Smoke Dragon Painting

Acrylic, ink, lacquer, petrol, rust patterns on steel (2016)

This dragon is imbued with a greater sense of motion, which contrasts nicely with the more static background. Much of the fine detail is in the background, which is reminiscent of classical Chinese landscape painting, which was solely using acid and rust, rather than the application of pigment. The grey palette evokes the softness and mists of Guangxi in the rainy season.
